Spot Welcomes Mayor Rahm Emanuel
Spot was honored earlier this week to welcome Chicago’s Mayor, Rahm Emanuel, to our office for lunch and a tour of the trading floor. The mayor was interested in visiting Spot, during which time he shared his economic vision for the city while also learning more about Spot’s business and what we bring to the city in terms of technology, talent, and innovation.
During his visit, the Mayor took the opportunity to speak about the successes that make up Chicago’s economy. He highlighted the city’s leading role in relocating corporate headquarters, strength in financial services (exchanges, trading, risk management, insurance), and transportation infrastructure (airports and public transit) as differentiating factors that are helping grow Chicago’s economy. The mayor also highlighted the city’s efforts to make Chicago a thriving technology and innovation hub through its work via 1871, ChicagoNext and ThinkChicago’s FinTech initiatives. The city also hosts students from around the country for internships and conferences like Chicago Ideas Week.
The Mayor had an opportunity to learn more about Spot’s recruiting efforts and the talented people we are bringing to the city. During his tour of our office, the Mayor then met Spot’s summer interns and STP’s, and witnessed firsthand the quality and scope of the people we have brought to the firm.
We appreciated this opportunity to spend time with the Mayor, and we thank him for his time. We are looking forward to exploring ways to continue to work with the city to showcase our talent and help grow the trading industry in Chicago.
