Supporting Our Community

Spot participates in various community programs, charitable organizations and special causes throughout the year, and we encourage employee and firmwide participation through our Philanthropy Committee.

Involvement

The firm is actively involved with Hedge Funds Care, an organization that is supported by our industry to prevent and treat child abuse. In addition, there are many other groups that our employees work with and organizations that the firm contributes to, including Fabretto Children’s Foundation, Ravinia Reach Teach Play, CareLink Foundation, and Hephzibah Children’s Association.

Sponsorships

As a means of benefiting our local community while giving employees an opportunity to socialize together, Spot regularly sponsors charitable activities such as ”Hustle up the Hancock” and other events throughout the year. Many employees, along with their families and friends, regularly participate in these events.

Education

We welcome opportunities to engage schools and universities, providing tours and presentations at our office for students from grade schools through master’s programs, as well as speaking engagements for different school groups. We partner with local colleges including University of Illinois, University of Michigan, and University of Chicago to help students gain more exposure to our industry, providing mentoring and hands-on projects to help learn about trading.

Donations

We have partnered with the Salvation Army for a daily pick-up of food, with an average of 50 meals per week being donated.  Spot also donates to the Misericordia Bakery, purchasing gifts from the bakery and providing other donations.

Charitable Campaigns

We host various charity drives throughout the year, including a school supply drive, a virtual food drive, and an Easter basket/candy drive.  Our fundraiser for the Special Olympics Duck Derby was a huge success in 2012, with employees purchasing over 300 ducks.  During the holidays, employees play Secret Santa, purchasing gifts for local underprivileged children through various “Letters to Santa” programs.
