Systems and Operations Analyst
Spot is looking for a Systems and Operations Analyst to join its Systems and Operations team. The Systems and Operations Analyst is responsible for operating, supporting and maintaining the technology that runs the business. The analyst will focus on minimizing downtime and maximizing efficiency. Daily tasks include proactively monitoring applications and infrastructure, and running all batch processes. Applicant will be acting as the point of contact for all issues across the firm, and providing tier 1 support for all applications and systems.
Responsibilities
- Provide tier 1 application and IT Infrastructure support including incident, problem, request, and change management.
- Maintain knowledge base of common tier 1 issues and resolutions and make available to all support staff.
- Monitor applications and IT Infrastructure components. Monitoring should be automated where possible
- Execute on routine tasks needed to maintain applications and IT Infrastructure as dictated by run books (e.g., server start-up/shutdown procedures, tape loading, etc.).
- Develop and document repeatable operational procedures using scripts and third-party tools.
- Thoroughly document all incidents and generate reports summarizing incidents for trend analysis and root cause determination.
- Conduct all technology activities necessary to onboard, offboard, or move employees in a consistent and thorough fashion.
- Administer all user accounts, permissions, and access rights according to policy.
- Provide help desk function including initial creation of tickets, dispatching of issues, and acting as end-to-end point of contact for customers regarding tickets.
- Act as administrator for third-party applications/tools such as Microsoft Exchange, MindAlign, internal portal, etc., and manage support contracts and licenses for hardware and third-party software
- Define and uphold service levels for IT Infrastructure services provided to rest of firm.
- Develop and execute routine patching schedule for all servers, workstations, and network devices.
Skills and Qualities
- Technical background through formal education or working experience.
- Familiarity with SQL to create ad-hoc queries.
- Perl, VBA, or PHP scripting language or similiar programming language exposure.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated critical thinking and problem solving skills.
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to fast changing environment.
- Strong team player.
