STP Research Training Program
Spot Trading LLC, a proprietary trading firm located in Chicago, is looking for recent business, economics and related major graduates to help form its STP Research Program for securities analysts; starting in the summer of 2009. The field of proprietary trading is an exciting, highly competitive industry that competes with hedge funds and asset managers in many markets and we view fundamental research as one of our key advantages. We are looking for smart, energetic, and self-motivated people to join our team.
Successful candidates will show strong problem solving skills, and demonstrate an ability to gather, digest and analyze new information quickly. Candidates should also be able to thrive in a team based, collaborative culture that values quick thinking and a commitment to learning. Finally, candidates will need to develop an ability to take both a short term and a long term view of a company's prospects.
The STP Research Training Program will involve rotations through multiple roles in Spot’s organization, including News Analysis, Equity/Option Analysis, and Financial Engineering. Candidates will work closely with both our equity analysts and traders who drive the revenues and profits of our firm. Our goal is to build knowledge in candidates across the Trading organization, give candidates an ability to analyze businesses and generate impacting views on companies.
Candidates should expect to gain a familiarity with practical financial statement analysis, knowledge of equity and equity option markets and a functional financial education that will allow ones’ career to flourish in capital markets, and specifically, proprietary trading.
