What is the STP Program?

The STP IT Program is an 12-month program that provides the fundamental background in options trading and IT skills through a combination of classroom education and on-the-job training. You will rotate through each of the systems teams at Spot, and you will be matched with a mentor to help guide you along the way. Upon successful completion of the program you will be fully integrated into the Support team as an Associate IT Analyst. The learning experience does not end there; rather it continues everyday at Spot.

What does an IT Analyst do at Spot?

As an IT Analyst, you will be implementing and supporting the trading applications that directly impact the profitability of the firm. You will be exposed to a breadth of technology to solve complex problems in real-time trading systems and low latency networks. Our IT team is involved in all areas of our business activities, and you will be contributing to large-scale projects and releases shortly after joining the team.

Our Trading platform is built on an extensive high performance physical and virtual infrastructure. Our Enterprise Technologies include: Windows, Linux, VMware ESX, SQL Server, advanced telecommunications technologies, and best of breed Network, SAN and NAS technologies

What skills/background do you need?

We are looking for Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, IT, or Computer Science students who think broadly to create innovative solutions to detailed problems. Candidates should have a solid understanding of computer science principles and theory with exposure to hardware and networking. As part of Spot’s learning culture, we will assist you in achieving various certifications which may include Red Hat or MCTIP. Because our tools are constantly evolving, you should have a passion for learning about the newest developments in technology.
